DEPARTMENT: Finance and Administration


REPORTING TO: Accountant

TERMS OF SERVICE: Permanent and Pensionable

JOB ROLE: Ensure that proper books of Accounts have been kept in accordance with Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board’s policy

Key responsibilities

  1. Conducting day to day financial transactions such as invoicing, bank  reconciliations, payments, petty cash recording
  2. To create, apply and control financial procedures and forms, ensuring that each transaction and payment has the necessary approval and justification;
  3. To monitor actual performance against the budget and investigate any variances;
  4. To store documents in a way that is simple to prepare justification and reports for the partners;
  5. Draft trial balances and financial statements
  6. To prepare and maintain up to date accounting system, ensuring that all transactions are duly recorded;
  7. Performs all the year-end functions on the accounts and arrange for them to be audited;
  8. Coordinating and preparing timely and accurate financial budgets and forecasts by consolidating individual, section and departmental budgets;
  9. Analyzing budgets and other financial variances and advising the Accountant accordingly;
  10. Liaising with external auditors;
  11. General administration and timely and accurate filing to support the finance team.

Minimum academic qualifications:

Bachelor of Commerce Accounting / Finance Option or equivalent;

Professional qualifications:

CPA II or its equivalent

 Relevant work experience:

Two (2) years experience in Finance and accounts


  1. Exposure and hands on experience to one or more computerized accounting packages and knowledge of accounting principles
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Ability to work with minimum supervision
  4. Ability to produce accurate and customized reports while meeting deadlines.
  5. Analytical Skills
  6. A high standards of ethics and integrity
